AshleyMadison Review by Affair Guide. AshleyMadison isn’t as good (result wise) as SexSearch or AffairsClub. AshleyMadison is by far the biggest affairs site on the web – it has dominated the affairs dating niche for quite some time, and as a result, it has both some advantages and some disadvantages. The biggest DISADVANTAGE I found is that private investigators are checking the site regularly (as described on this PI site ), so if you’re being suspected of having an affair, it’s that much more risky.
My Review Of AshleyMadison
I created a profile on AshleyMadison in May 2011 and kept my membership active for 2 months. My total spend during these 2 months was roughly 450$, because AshleyMadison operates on a “credit basis’ (you use up credits for contacting people). In that amount of time, I was able to have 3 real dates from Ashley Madison (two of which ended in hookups). If you compare that to how many women I pulled off other sites, it’s quite low. One of the problems was that it took a lot of time to actually set up dates with women I messaged. I also met up with a fourth woman – but her husband found out about her AshleyMadison membership and decided to confront me about it. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed off about my whole experience with AshleyMadison, and I don’t think the site is the best if you’re looking to have a discreet affair.
Don’t get me wrong – AshleyMadison is a pretty decent website, but I just like my affair romances to be as drama-free as possible. I just can’t have pissed off husbands hunting me down. I don’t like living my life looking over my shoulder – but that’s just me!
AshleyMadison Review – Comparison To Other Affair Websites
If you compare the results from this AshleyMadison review to other affair sites like AffairsClub or adult dating sites like SexSearch, it seems to not be as efficient as what’s promised. One reason may be that women on AshleyMadison are very careful with setting up meetings in person, because there are a lot of private investigators looking at this site when it comes to investigating affairs.
The credits based system used at AshleyMadison is a bit of a pain in the ass to work with. Unlike AffairsClub or SexSearch, you use up a credit each time you message someone. So you can burn your credits very fast if you decide to take a “mass mail” approach. And that’s part of the problem – because everyone is very careful, it takes a lot of messages to get a “hit” – so you blow through your AshleyMadison credits pretty quickly – and are asked to renew very often. You also end up blowing a ton of credits on messaging “women” who are actually fake profiles.
Overall, I found that the site is both overpriced and overhyped. For the amount of money I spent in the 2 months I was using it, I probably could have picked up 4 or 5 married women from bars. Because everyone is so “careful” when communicating on AshleyMadison, the process from contacting someone to having an actual date takes ***forever***. So AshleyMadison guarantees you an affair – but they don’t tell you how long it’ll take to actually find one
In my book, that’s over-promising and under-delivering.
As few as a review of the AshleyMadison functionality, it has pretty much all of the features you’d expect an affairs dating site to have, with the exception of video chat. You can search, mail, chat and wink at Ashley Madison members as part of any package – but each action (with the exception of searching for members) will cost you credits.
AshleyMadison – Review Of The Good & Bad Parts
First, the good from our AshleyMadison review:
- Ashleymadison is the largest affairs dating site online.
- AshleyMadison is very easy to use and features both a great interface and communication features.
- If you’re woman you won’t have any trouble finding an affair on AshleyMadison.
- AshleyMadison features a discrete billing policy.
Now for the bad on AshleyMadison from our review:
- The site is that it’s routinely checked by private investigators that are investigating affairs. We talked to a few PI’s and they all stated that this is the one site they always check when asked by a client to investigate affairs. We definitely recommend not posting face pictures on the site if you decide to join.
- Second, you should NOT join AshleyMadison if you’re from a smaller town. Most people on the site are from larger urban areas.
- Debit cards (even prepaid ones) are not accepted for becoming a member.
- AshleyMadison uses a credit-based system – so there are no refunds once you join.
- Found that spending 600$ in memberships for one actual affair was too much.
AshleyMadison Review – Statistics
In the United States, AshleyMadison has over 1 million members. In contrast SexSearch and AffairsClub has roughly 750 000 members each. If you’re from a large urban area, like San Francisco for example – there’s a ton of people to pick from to connect with. Worldwide, the site has over 9 million members and does quite well in Canada, the UK and Ireland – as well as France and Germany.
However, like any dating site, not all the people you meet on the site are real. While AshleyMadison try hard to filter fake profiles, there’s always some that trickle through. For example, we had 3 women contact and flirt with us, only to ask for a fee for a “session”. So there are some escorts that work the AshleyMadison channel.
Similarly, there are some scams on AshleyMadison. Some women (and men from our understanding) will contact you and flirt with you. They will then tell you that they are coming to your city next week / month. And then, they’ll ask you to send money through Wester Union. You need to make sure you NEVER send money to anyone on AshleyMadison.
Review Of The AshleyMadison Guarantee
AshleyMadison has a guarantee that they flaunt as part of their affair marketing message which is the “AshleyMadison Affair Guarantee”. Basically, they state that by joining the site, you are guaranteed to have an affair. We’re not sure we believe that
AshleyMadison Profile Scams
As I mentioned previously, there are a few scams operating on AshleyMadison. There are two types of scams on AshleyMadison:
- The first one is the give me money scam, where some “girl” will be very interested in you and eventually try to hit you up for money to “fly to see you”. They will ask for you to send money via PayPal or Western Union.
- The second is the AshleyMadison blackmail scam, in which a woman meets you and pretends to have an “emergency” – while her pimp follows you back to your house and then tries to extort money from you.
It’s pretty easy to avoid #1 by NEVER sending any money to anyone you meet on AshleyMadison. As for #2, you should always check your rear view mirror for cars following you – this also apples for cab rides. If possible, get dropped off a few blocks from your residence and walk the rest of the way, making sure you’re not being followed. This hasn’t happened to me, but I have heard stories from others and it’s a real threat and danger. So ALWAYS be careful! I also recommend not drinking too much on dates, as this leads to bad decisions and not being as “aware” as you should be.
AshleyMadison Pricing Review
AshleyMadison pricing is credit based and as a result, you get a certain number of credits based on the package you choose when joining AshleyMadison. You can get a package for 49$, 149$ or 249$ (in comparison, a membership for AffairsClub costs roughly 30$). We found the AshleyMadison membership to be expensive for what you get. The more you pay, the more credits and access you get on AshleyMadison. AshleyMadison memberships range from basic to gold – each of which carries benefits.
AshleyMadison Mobile Phone Functionality Review
For this AshleyMadison review we tested out the mobile AshleyMadison website. It’s very well made (although not as good as the AffairsClub mobile functionality). The AshleyMadison mobile application lets you search, contact and chat with members – which is pretty good. What the application doesn’t’ do is give you location based information for members that are close by (the AffairsClub app does, by the way).
AshleyMadison Publicity Review (Banned Commercials)
AshleyMadison has had several commercial that were banned from the air. Here’s a list of them:
AshleyMadison 2011 SuperBowl Commercial (Banned From TV)
AshleyMadison On The Huckabee Show
AshleuMadison On The View
AshleyMadison 2009 SuperBowl Commercial (Banned From TV)
AshleyMadison – Company Overview
AshleyMadison is a Canadian company (eh!). They are headquartered in Toronto and operate in most international markets. We’re not use how much revenue AshleyMadison makes, as it it a privately held company.
AshleyMadison Review – Conclusion
While I was able to meet women off this site, I’d say that the heavy price tag and the problems that come with using it (husbands hunting you down, private investigators checking it constantly) make it harder to use than other affair websites. I’d recommend trying AffairsClub or SexSearch before you try this one.
